The Wireless Cities congress aims to address the large and complex challenges European cities like yours are faced with. How to deliver economic growth in line with the EU’s Lisbon Strategy whilst reducing social exclusion and controlling tight budgets? How to improve the quality of life for your citizens whilst increasing the productivity and flexibility of your workforce? How to deliver the Public Internet Access Points and broadband connections demanded by the eEurope Action Plan?
Espero ter tempo e conectividade para poder publicar, neste espaço, alguns relatos da minha presença nesta conferência.
It’s confirmed. After being present at the 1st edition, I will be attending LIFT 07, next February, 7-9, in Geneva. I’ve just finished my registration, booked my flights on Easyjet (it will be my first fly on Easyjet), and booked my room in CityHostel.
For those who never, ever, heard anything about this conference,
LIFT is a gathering of talented observers, explorers, and builders who discuss the current challenges and creative solutions presented by emerging technologies. LIFT is three days to face cutting edge business models, bold predictions, radical thinking, and get new ideas to inject into your own part of the planet.
LIFT has a simple goal: connect people who are passionate about new applications of technology and propel their conversations into the broader world to improve life and work.
Felizmente parece que os resultados das recentes eleições norte-americanas foram bastante positivas para o movimento a favor da manutenção da neutralidade da Internet:
Internet Freedom Fighters to Take Command in Congress
The election results are good news for anyone who cares about the free and open Internet. Reps. John Dingell (D-Mich.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) — both strong supporters of Net Neutrality — will most likely take command of telecommunications…
No entanto, esta foi apenas uma batalha ganha, onde o importante será ganhar a guerra.
From now on, I’m a hard bloggin’ scientist, because like the version 0.1 of his manifest claims:
1. I believe that science is about freedom of speech.
2. I can identify myself with the science I do.
3. I am able to communicate my thoughts and ideas to the public.
4. I use a blog as a research tool. That means in particular, that I
express my thoughts,
get in contact with others,
have a sketch of my process online,
get feedback and new ideas from others.
5. I trust myself.
6. I surf a lot and I read a lot.
7. I blog once in a day/week/month.
8. I give comments once in a day/week/month on other blogs.
9. I am self-aware and critical.
10. I refer to the people who done the work first.
11. I give love and respect to the people.
